Umrah packages from the USA
How American pilgrims get a visa, which state rules protect you, and what group trips cost.
Most Umrah trips from the US are group departures of 7 to 10 nights with connecting flights, often timed around Thanksgiving and the Christmas and New Year holidays. Only New York has a non-stop flight to Jeddah.
The US has no national licence for travel sellers or Umrah agents. Some states require sellers of travel to register, and Saudi Arabia keeps its own list of approved agents, so you check in two places.
Travel update, 29 October 2026: the US is among the governments that issued warnings after attacks on Saudi airports in October 2026. Check the US State Department's advice and our travel update before you book.

Umrah visa for US citizens
We could not read an official US or Saudi government page on this. Reports in 2026 list the United States among the countries eligible for the Saudi tourist eVisa, which allows Umrah outside the Hajj season and is valid for a year, with stays of up to 90 days. Check your eligibility on the official Saudi visa portal before you rely on it.
Saudi Arabia's Nusuk Umrah platform also lets pilgrims abroad apply for an Umrah visa and book services directly, but it shows eligibility only after you register, and US eligibility is not confirmed on an official list.
If you live in the US on another passport: reports from 2023 say US permanent residents, and holders of a US visa that has been used at least once, can get the Saudi e-visa whatever their nationality. This has not been re-confirmed by an official source in 2026.
Umrah visas are tied to a confirmed hotel booking made through Nusuk Masar. Whether that applies to eVisa holders is not officially confirmed. Every pilgrim books a Nusuk Umrah permit and needs the meningitis ACYW vaccine.
Who may sell Umrah in the USA
There is no federal travel-agency licence in the US; rules are set by states. For example:
- California: every seller of travel must register with the Attorney General and show the registration number in its advertising. You can check a seller on the Attorney General's seller of travel page. Registration is not approval by the state.
- Florida: each seller of travel must register every year with the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and show proof of a bond.
- Washington: sellers must register with the Department of Licensing before selling, and keep customer money held more than five business days in a trust account. The law covers sellers outside the state who deal with Washington customers.
- Hawaii: travel agencies must register with the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs and deposit customer payments in a client trust account.
There is no single national register of Umrah agents in the US. Some US agencies describe themselves as authorized agents of the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah; ask them to show you their entry on Nusuk Masar's public search, Inquiry About Qualified External Agents. See how to check an operator.

Delta began non-stop flights from Atlanta to Riyadh on 23 October 2026. They land in Riyadh, not Jeddah, and Riyadh's airport was the worst hit in the October attacks.
