Ramadan Umrah 2027: Projected Dates, Prices & Booking

Ramadan 1448 is expected to begin on about 8 February 2027. That is a projection from astronomers, not a fixed date: the start depends on the sighting of the moon. Here is what we know, and how to plan.

Crowds

Ramadan is the busiest time of the Umrah year, above all the last ten nights. Expect hotels near the Haram to fill first, and plan for more time and patience at every step. The Rawdah in Madinah needs a permit in the Nusuk app, and the Ministry has said each worshipper can have one every 365 days, so book it as soon as your Madinah dates are fixed.

Prices do not always rise, as the Australian example shows, but the biggest jumps we saw were for premium packages. Ask for the hotel names and distances, and compare quotes with the same room sharing.

When to book, and when to get the visa

Choose your operator early. Group places and hotel rooms near the Haram are limited, and Umrah visas need a confirmed hotel booking.
Mind the visa timing. An Umrah visa allows a 90-day stay, but sources differ on how soon you must arrive after it is issued: 30 days in late-2025 reports, three months in the Ministry FAQ. Ask your operator to time the visa so you travel within 30 days of issue.
The last visa date is 9 March 2027. That is expected to be Eid al-Fitr itself, so a visa for Ramadan must be issued well before then.
Ask for flexible terms. Given the current situation, ask for written rules on changing dates and on refunds if flights are cancelled.

Season dates for the 1448 AH season (2026–27)

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah announced the calendar for the 1448 AH Umrah season on 17 May 2026 (official announcement):

Umrah visas began to be issued, and pilgrims could start arriving, on 31 May 2026 (14 Dhul-Hijjah 1447).
Entry to Makkah and Nusuk Umrah permits began on 1 June 2026.
The last day for issuing Umrah visas is 9 March 2027 (1 Shawwal 1448).
The last day for pilgrims to arrive is 23 March 2027 (15 Shawwal 1448).
The last day to leave Saudi Arabia is 7 April 2027 (30 Shawwal 1448).

Ramadan 1448 is expected to begin on about 8 February 2027, with Eid al-Fitr on 9 or 10 March 2027. Hajj 1448 is expected in mid-May 2027, with the Day of Arafah on 15 or 16 May. These Ramadan and Hajj dates are projections from the UAE's astronomy centre; the real dates depend on the moon sighting.
