Chennai pilgrims usually connect through a Gulf hub such as Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Muscat, Kuwait or Bahrain, or fly first to Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Mumbai or Delhi. Hyderabad and Mumbai also have non-stops to Madinah.

Check the departure city in writing too. One national operator's "Umrah packages from Chennai" page repeated its Hyderabad dates and prices under a heading that read "from Hyderabad". The Tamil Nadu State Haj Committee in Nungambakkam deals with Hajj, not Umrah.

Flights from Chennai

Chennai has flights to Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Muscat, Kuwait and Bahrain, all of which connect to Jeddah, and domestic flights to the Indian cities with Saudi non-stops. A connection adds travel time, so ask how long the layover is, especially for older pilgrims.

Flights update, 29 October 2026: after attacks on Saudi airports in October, Indian airlines suspended their Saudi flights. IndiGo cancelled Jeddah, Madinah, Dammam and Riyadh flights until 31 October. Air India and Air India Express suspended Jeddah until 31 October and Riyadh and Dammam until 7 November.
